8 BITSS - VALERE AMIRAULT, JEAN DALAUNEY, SARAH LAUFER & BENJAMIN MATTERN (2010)

8 Bits was in competition at Sundance in 2011. It begins as a glossy computer animation where a computer game "boss" is toasting his successful capture of a woman with special powers. However, someone has come to ruin the party and, with the help of the captive, the graphics. When the fight breaks out, old 2D graphics momentarily takeover before the boss demands the "end of level" battle take place in the 3D world. However, it proves to be a temporary rest bite for the boss before things downgrade further. It is reminiscent of the original Pixels short film and A Morning Stroll. There are no writing credits in this French animation (as there is little story) but it was directed by Valere Amirault, Jean Delaunay, Sarah Laufer and Benjamin Mattern.
